A Spectacular Dinner Theater Recap

We tell all of our guests who tour The Glenwood that not only can they have their wedding or corporate event at our venue, but that they are invited back to experience our very own Dinner Theater evenings.

On June 2nd, Irregardless Cafe and The Glenwood hosted and exclusively catered the SPECTACULAR, SPECTACULAR! Simul-Cinema: Tribute to Moulin Rouge Dinner Theater presented by The VaudeVillain Revue!  Filled with comedy, live music, cabaret dancers, magic and a classic French Provence four-course meal, the evening was a huge success and guests came ready and dressed for the occasion.

Check out some of our highlights below:

Cocktail hour included 2 specialty drinks – French 75 –  is a drink dating from the turn of the last century France consisting of Gin, Champagne, Lemon Juice and Sugar Syrup, and the Earthquake –named for its strength, it is a licorice-flavored Cocktail served over ice in a wine goblet, with a mix of Absinthe and Cognac. Guests also enjoyed an open bar featuring beer and French-inspired wines plus complementary table wines.

Ophidian Tarot Reader, Jameela Dallis gave guests a glimpse into their future with professional tarot readings during cocktail hour:

Our guests arrived in their fanciest attire and truly made a gorgeous fashion statement:

Our cocktail hour also featured turn-of-the-(last)-century France bites, served with aperitifs:  Tapenade – a black olive dip made with capers, garlic and olive oil and served on a croute toast; Pissaladiere – a popular flatbread topped with caramelised onion & anchovies; and Artichoke hearts breaded and deep fried with aioli.

Dinner included a plated salad course with baguettes with butter, Salad Niciose – a classic Provence dish of crisp greens, tomatoes, boiled potatoes and haricots verts dressed with vinaigrette, hard-boiled eggs, olives and seared sliced tuna.

The buffet course featured Ratatouille, which is a vegetable casserole consisting of tomatoes, onions, courgettes, aubergines, peppers, garlic and herbs; Provençal Beef Stew, where the beef is slowly braised in red wine, vegetables, garlic and herbs and served; and new baby potatoes, lightly boiled topped with fresh herbs.

From the live musical performance and comedy to the cabaret dancers and play-writing, the show was quite the masterpiece – all inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge and performed by The VaudeVillain Revue!
